Computer Scientist

I’ve always been captivated by the world. Ever since I was little, all I’ve ever wanted to do was to explore and learn about everything, all of the breathtaking places, amazing creatures, the incredible history and culture that surrounds us. I’d spent countless hours reading, sometimes even hiding with a small flashlight under my covers. I learned about the animals with Gerald M. Durrell, journeyed the worlds of Jules Verne and Herbert Welles, went on adventures with Tolkien and Clarke. As I grew older, I used to fall asleep to the sound of Animal Planet or the Discovery Channel, always hungry for more.

Anna's lovely cat

Mietzi is the beautiful mascot of AnnaDoYouKnow. Anna sometimes describes her as the "Buddha Cat" - she sends out such a sense of peace and tranquility, just the way you'd imagine Buddha would. There is no hurry in the way she does things. Well, except maybe for eating: she loves to eat (and sleep in the funniest positions). Really love this cat ♡

When I think back, I have always been curious. Like every child I was fascinated by my surroundings and wanted to know exactly why things are the way that they are. I was probably a bit more extreme in that sense than other kids. So much so that my kindergarten teacher asked my parents if I always ask so many questions. And I did. I've always wanted to take in more and more and understand the world. And still nothing has changed: I really enjoy to learn and experience new things.

Why do we do this

There are many things that inspire us, but the main driving force behind our project is the aim to make knowledge easier to understand. Today we have access to so much information on the tips of our fingers, but the way a lot of it is written down is overcomplicated and isolated. Our goal is to explain things simply and to make it easier to see the connections between different topics. We want to create a place, where we can all learn, discuss and share our stories and by doing so reach as many people as we can.

In today's world it's increasingly important to learn things by ourselves. On one hand we have access to boundless information right at our fingertips, but on the other our world gets more complex and complicated day by day. Our goal is to create a place to learn interesting and thoroughly researched facts, presented in a way that is easy to understand

"There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle or you can live as if everything is a miracle." - Albert Einstein. We believe in the latter and want to preserve the child within us. Our world is full with so many fascinating and wondrous things, you just have to go out and find them

We love to learn new things and want to share our passion with you through our facts. We hope to grow as a community and create a space, where we can exchange knowledge and ideas and learn from each other

As the amount of fake news and misinformation constantly increases, we want to spread more awareness and develop a culture of skepticism. We have to begin to think again more by ourselves, to trust our common sense and not be blinded by BS. The less you know, the more you believe
